What exactly do we do?

Our goal is to drive conversation into more productive and respectful avenues, provide networking opportunities to LGBTQ+ musicians and their fans, provide resources to aid in the coming-out process, and encourage LGBTQ+ musicians to be more visible. We do this through supporting LGBTQ+ organizations both financially and ideologically, getting our name out into the public sphere, and  by creating projects to shine a light on the issues facing LGBTQ+ musicians and their fans.

Is Punk Out a non-profit organization?

Yes. Punk Out, Co. is a registered 501(c)(3) organization. Our Tax ID is: 47-2938696. A copy of our IRS Approval Letter, 1023-EZ, and Articles of Incorporation-NonProfit  can be found in the Finances section of our website.

What are your Blog and Artist Corner?

Our Blog and Artist Corner are spaces for Punk Out team members and musicians to speak independently on any topic that pertains to what we term the "3 I's." Those "3 I's" are: inclusion, inspiration, and identity. The opinions expressed via those platforms are solely of the author and do not reflect the opinions of Punk Out. We believe in the power of conversation and both our Blog and Artist Corner are platforms for conversations.

If you are an artist and interested in writing an Op-Ed for our Artist Corner, please email info@punkout.org with your pitch.

Send us an  email at info@punkout.org.

100% of all funds go to Punk Out's events and operations so that we can continue to provide resources, networking opportunities, consciousness raising, and to continue to move the LGBTQ+ conversation towards a more productive avenue. For more information, consult our Finances page.

Can you tell us a little about your vernacular?

We define the term "queer" as an umbrella term covering any individual who identifies as anything other than heterosexual and/or cisgender. We do not mean to alienate anyone nor do we aim to offend any individual who would find the term "queer" as such.

What does LGBTQ+ mean?

LGBTQ+ is a shortened version of the acronym LGBTTQQIAAP, which stands for: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Transsexual, Queer, Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, Ally, and Pansexual.

Do I have to identify as LGBTQ+ to support Punk Out?

Absolutely not. Our straight allies are just as important as our LGBTQ+ allies.

Does Punk Out provide counseling or treatment?

Though we believe in the power of counseling and treatment, we are not trained mental health professionals and do not personally provide these services.. If you would like more information about counseling or treatment resources that are available, check out our Resources page.
